Yuni Tang joined the HSRC team as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in June 2023. Her primary research focuses on the use of epidemiologic surveillance methods to reduce injuries caused by traffic. She is particularly interested in risk factors contributing to injuries and fatalities due to alcohol- and drug-impaired driving among the young generations.
Yuni received her doctorate in Epidemiology at West Virginia University with a concentration in traffic injury prevention. She also has an MPH from the Ohio State University in Epidemiology and a MBBS from Hebei Medical University, China. Yuni’s research has led to four first-author peer-reviewed manuscripts published at BMC Research Notes, Journal of Appalachian Health, Pharmaceutical Medicine, and Journal of Adolescent Health, as well as six conference abstracts. She received Traffic Safety Scholar awards twice: $1,000 in 2023 and $100 in 2021, and student awards in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at West Virginia University in 2023. Her professional experiences include serving as an external manuscript and abstract reviewer. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, LEGO, and nature photography.
